Christmas returns to PortAventura World
From the 23rd of November to the 6th of January, the resort is filled with Christmas spirit and offers a wide range of shows and activities for the occasion
Christmas is the perfect excuse to pack your bags and take your last trip of the year. Many destinations are decorated with lights, giant trees and the sound of carols. PortAventura World is no exception, and from the 23rd of November to the 6th of January the resort known for its theme parks is completely transformed to fill the winter days with excitement. The Christmas theme and decoration, its beloved characters and a wide range of shows, gastronomy and special activities promise an experience that will take us back to childhood to experience the warmth of these days. It doesn’t matter whether you have been to PortAventura World before; at Christmas this destination decks itself out to delight both children and adults.
The most emblematic shows
A must-visit is ‘Christmas Dream’, a large musical show in the Imperial Theatre where elves and gnomes welcome you to Santa Claus’ gift factory with live music and endless stunts that will make everyone’s jaws drop. Additionally, this year it has an amazing new acrobatic duo. Other emblematic shows taking place during these days are ‘Bubble Magic Christmas’, at the Magic Temple, where an alchemist gets into the Christmas spirit and creates a great bubble show with just water, soap and a lot of imagination; ‘Woody’s Christmas’, in Polynesia, in which the craziest bird and his friends dance to the best carols; ‘Christmas Time’, at the Long Branch Saloon of the Far West, where Joe, the chimneysweep, declares his love for Catherine, with the help of incredible dancers, Santa Claus, and a magic elf; and children will be amazed at the SesameAdventure Theatre with ‘It’s Christmas at SesameAdventure’, a show in which the residents of Sesame Street® welcome them in their town decorated for the occasion to dance, have fun and celebrate Christmas with Elmo, Grover, Ernie and other characters.
At the end of the day is the ‘Christmas Parade’, the parade of floats, characters and spectacular choreography ending the day on the streets of Mediterrània and inviting visitors to admire the lights of the resort at night. Next is ‘The Arrival of the Royal Emissaries’ in the lake of Mediterrània, a pyrotechnic show full of light and colour during which the Three Kings’ helpers arrive in PortAventura World looking for Christmas letters.
Additionally, on the 5th of January, the resort celebrates the eve of Three Kings’ Day with the exceptional Parade of the Three Kings. Their majesties will ride on the floats accompanied by their entourage and gifts to give to children that night.
A unique range of gastronomy
Christmas is also synonymous with good food. These holidays allow us to sample the culinary delicacies of PortAventura World. They are dishes that pay homage to the tradition of the region, such as galets soup and the Yule log, both served at the Racó de Mar restaurant. At the Gnomes’ Inn, a space that opens its doors exclusively during Christmas, notable dishes are meat, truffle and foie gras cannelloni and Christmas roast tender beef with demi-glace sauce. Also, Santa Claus’ gnomes liven up the meal with a show where you will help decorate the tree, as well as with a letter to Santa Claus.
Other restaurants of the resort such as The Iron Horse, La Cantina and The Old Steak House add to the range of Christmas dishes.
The most exclusive activities
During this period and with the aim of immersing visitors in the magic of the holidays, PortAventura World has created the ‘XMAS Experience’, the most exclusive Christmas experience for groups of 4 to 8 people, which includes a themed tour of the resort, a meal at the Gnomes’ Inn, exclusive access to The Enchanted Forest, photos with Santa Claus and a personalised Christmas souvenir, among other elements. Additionally, visitors can enjoy reserved seats at shows and cocktails during special events, such as the arrival of the royal emissaries.
With regard to stays, those staying at the themed hotels within PortAventura World on the nights of the 24th and 31st of December will have a unique stay with the ‘Christmas Package’ and the ‘End of Year Package’. The first includes Christmas dinner and special entertainment, and the second includes a gala buffet dinner, midnight bells and start of year party at the PortAventura Convention Centre. Ultimately, PortAventura World is the ideal destination for a magical Christmas getaway, whether as a family, as a couple, or with friends.
