2014 - Ratatouille - Rumor - (3/14/12) According to DLPToday the Walt Disney Studios can expect to see two new attractions open in the park for 2014 as part of a 150 million Euro investment. At this point it seems everyone knows about the Ratatouille dark ride under way at the park already… and even the film’s director Brad Bird has confirmed it. Seems he replied to a question on Twitter about the Ratatouille dark ride by saying, “It’s going to be really cool.”
So this leaves us to wonder just what else may be in the works? If Ratatouille is the E-Ticket, then I would hope we could also see a new C or D ticket level attraction in the works as well. While we had seen a previous rumor suggesting Soarin’ was considered for the park, I don’t think it’s still on the books anymore. Lots of directions we could see Disney go with this, and it could range from a new attraction to a revamped existing attraction, or perhaps a new direction entirely. If I had to guess, I think we could see a new small ride added to one of the existing areas, like perhaps a copy of the the Luigi’s Flying Tires ride from California Adventure to fit in near the existing Cars flat ride. Of course a copy of Toy Story Midway Mania would also be a nice touch, but I don’t think that would quiet fit into the budget just yet.
And finally we have to consider that perhaps there was a bit of a misunderstanding when they mentioned two new attractions. What is the second attraction is at Disneyland Paris instead? I know a Star Tours 2 conversion package is ready to go, just waiting for budget approval. Plus major new attractions opening in 2014 at each park is a sure fire way to increase not only park attendance at both gates, but also give people a ready to stay in the on-site resort hotels.
