Rumor: Universal may open third park by 2018
..in den Universal Studios wird seit 1 1/2 Jahren massig gebaut, angeblich soll es damit zum Sommer 2014 erstmals fertig sein.Theme park fans are chattering about a rumored potential third theme park at Universal Orlando Resort in the next couple of years.
Here’s the WDWMagic.com post by user WDW1974 that started the firestorm: “What I can tell you is more general, but still incredibly impressive. Universal has BIG ... no, HUGE ... plans for Central Florida that include major new attractions [and] the real E-tickets in the next 5-6 years for both parks; the addition of more hotels beyond the three existing and the one being built; a new water park and Universal will be/is building a third [park].”
The user then wrote that Universal is expected to have most of the open land in and around its parks to be used by 2018.
OK, let’s get the possible stuff out of the way first. Universal could very well be thinking of more resorts and a water park, which is something several experts have said should be next. Plus, Universal has more than 60 acres south of Islands of Adventure zoned for such things. I wrote about that in a March special feature including a one-on-one talk with Universal Executive Vice President John Sprouls, as well as a feature with theme park experts on a possible water park and a story talking with a local tourism blogger.
But I think a third theme park is a bit much to swallow, because Universal already is invested heavily in the expansion of Harry Potter in Universal Studios, connecting it to Islands Of Adventures’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Is it possible that a ticket booth selling two-park tickets at the Universal Studios’ Harry Potter expansion to Wizarding World via a Hogwarts Express ride can be considered a third 'park' seeing as that attraction brand alone can draw millions to Orlando?
Man darf gespannt sein, ob dann 2018 wirklich ein dritter neuer Themenbereich kommt?
