Ice Age's Scrat is on his way to Gardaland for the 2012 season. Image © Twentieth Century Fox Gardaland has confiremd that it will open a new 4-D experience, Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D Experience, in March 2012.

Based on the third animated movie in the popular Ice Age series, the new addition will feature updated footage from the film. This is being converted into a 4-D format by SimEx-Iwerks, a specialist in similar attractions. It will be the centrepiece of a new Ice Age-themed area, which will also host a shop selling branded merchandise.

The first Ice Age movie was released in 2002, and was produced by Blue Sky Studios. Having proved to be a massive box office success, it spawned two sequels: Ice Age: The Meltdown and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

Characters from the Ice Age movies will be on-hand in the area to meet-and-greet guests in the new area. Gardaland is likely to cross-promote its new addition in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, which will release a fourth movie, Ice Age: Continental Drift, in July 2012.

The Alton Towers Resort is set for a cool 2012 as it announces a partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to bring an amazing Ice Age 4-D cinema and two themed hotel rooms to the Staffordshire Resort. The launch marks a collaborative effort for the Alton Towers Resort and Fox Consumer Products to give millions of Ice Age fans a truly up-close and engaging experience in what will be a fully immersive Ice Age offering. The new theme park and hotel attractions will open on 24 March, the start of the Theme Park’s 2012 season, months before the eagerly anticipated fourth installment of the film franchise, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, arrives in theatres.

Located in the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre of the theme park, the Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – the 4-D Experience cinema will combine 3-D footage, based on the third movie in the series, with an exhilarating variety of physical effects providing fans with the ultimate, ultra-cool, 4-D experience! Fans will also have the opportunity to meet both Sid and Scrat around the Alton Towers Resort!

In addition to the 4-D cinema attraction, two new Ice Age themed bedrooms will debut at the Resort’s Splash Landings Hotel. Inspired by the Ice Age films and featuring loveable characters Scrat, Manny and Sid, the immersive rooms will offer the ultimate sleepover for any Ice Age fan.

Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D Experience debuts on 24 March when the theme park opens it gates for the 2012 season. The attraction is part of a larger partnership with Merlin Entertainments and SimEx Iwerks. The fourth film in the series, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, will be in cinemas in 3-D in July 2012. Fans will follow Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, with world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny and the herd encounter a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home. The film features a returning cast voiced by John Leguizamo, Ray Romano, Seann William Scott, Queen Latifah and Denis Leary, along with new characters voiced by Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Aziz Ansari and Drake, among others.

Könnte man im Heide Park gut in die Spencerhalle bauen . Von außen müsste man dann noch Kulissen im Stil " Wild West " drum bauen . Oder welcher Bereich auch immer dort entstehen wird .

Tja, typisch Merlin. Während der Europa Park nun nen eigenen Film passend zum Park herstellen lässt machts Merlin wieder Merlintypisch und bringt den selben Film in mindestens 2 Parks.

Na ja, im EP lief auch der selbe Film wie im Hapa. Im Hapa lief schon der selbe Film wie im PHL der übrigens seit sehr vielen Jahren immer noch im PHL gespielt wird. Wird mal Zeit das da was Neues kommt, den gibt es ja allmählich schon ca 8 Jahre oder länger da .

Finde ich jetzt nicht schlimm , einen eigenen Film produzieren zu lassen kostet sicher einiges . Geld das lieber für den Bau einer längeren Achterbahn investiert werden sollte .

Naja, mir gefällts nicht. Geh ich halt nicht rein. Vor allem im Gardaland passt es schonwieder nicht zum schönen 4D Kino, zumindest nicht zur Außenfassade.

Wirklich innovativ wäre es, einen auf Jurassic Park zu machen und die kürzlich gefundenen Säbelzahneichhörnchen zu klonen.

Man hat ja am schielendem Opossum Heidi (Leipziger Zoo) gesehen, dass "etwas schräge" Tiere eine riesen Fan-Schar haben können. Ich gehe jede Wette ein, dass die Säbelzahneichhörnchen ein Besuchermagnet werden würden.
Aber anschauen würde ich mir den 4D-Film mit Scrat, der Nuss, schon - sofern sich mal wieder ein Besuch im Gardaland anbietet.
