Djurs Sommerland sets new attendance record

After a record breaking “Magical Halloween” in October, Djurs Sommerland can now celebrate yet another attendance record.

More than 808.000 guests have visited the Danish amusement park during 2017 – this exceeds the former attendance record from 2015 with almost 8.000 guests.

Despite a rainy summer and fall in Denmark it has truly been a great season for Scandinavia’s biggest summerland. In total Djurs Sommerland has welcomed 808,866 guests in the park in 2017 and more than 90,000 guests experienced the park during “Magical Halloween” where over 25,000 pumpkins, witches, skeletons and two large Halloween Haunted Houses filled the park.

According to CEO, Henrik B. Nielsen, the successful season is due to a few significant reasons.

“An important reason for this year’s attendance record is of course our opening of DrageKongen, which is Europe’s fastest and longest Family Suspended Coaster. The Intamin coaster has been a great success among families who find it is both a fun and thrilling ride,” says Henrik B. Nielsen

The investment in DrageKongen is the biggest single investment to date by a Danish amusement park, and is aligned with Djurs Sommerland’s bold investment strategy, which since 2008 has resulted in continuous product development and new themed rides and attractions costing more than EUR 55 million.

“In particular, we have achieved considerable international recognition for our roller coasters, not just because we have so many, but also because in recent years we have, in addition to DrageKongen, invested in spectacular rides like Piraten, Juvelen and Skatteøen, which stand out on account of their size, quality and unique features, and which rank among some of the best internationally. Also Bondegårdsland from 2015 with 10 new rides and attractions for all the family has proven to be a success” says Henrik B. Nielsen.

Djurs Sommerland will open again at April 27th 2018 with 2 new family attractions.
